Community Events

Annually, our Traveling Troupe students are encouraged to participate in community performances such as breast cancer awareness events, performances at local nursing homes, and the select "Holiday Express Dancers".

Broadway Dance Coaches & Choreographers From DANCE MOLINARI came to the KBSD for the second year in a row.  “Janine Molinari performs, directs, choreographs, and teaches master classes throughout the U.S., Canada, and Asia, including the Taipei International Dance Festival and Dance Theatre Tokyo.  This past spring, she directed /choreographed Next To Normal at the Seven Angels Theatre in CT, where she has been the residential choreographer for the past seven years.  When not traveling, Janine resides in NYC, where she is the founder and artistic director of DanceMolinari NYC/LA, a company that trains, and coaches young professionals in all areas of dance, improv, acro and audition preparation for Broadway, tours, television, commercials and feature films.  She was recently featured in the PBS documentary, "Annie: It's the Hard Knock Life, from Script to Stage" as well as in the book How To Act Like A Kid written by Henry Hodges and Margaret Engel.”  http://www.dancemolinari.com

In honor of Heart Awareness Month, Red Bank Catholic’s Dance “Company” recently hosted “The Heart Show”, an evening of dance and other performances featuring dancers from ten area studios.  As RBC Performing Arts Director Stacy Bascom notes, the evening was “an opportunity to help build a community of dance, to bring awareness about heart disease and to work together to raise funds to help those who suffer from it.”

The “Heart Show” rose over $2,300 to donate to heart disease research.  Mrs. Bascom reflects that “while working on this project, I was reminded of the famous Henry Ford quote: ‘Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is a process, working together is a success.’ It was such a wonderful experience for all of the dancers. They had an opportunity to collaborate and learn that they can use their talent and passion for dance to really make a positive difference in someone else’s life.”

Performing with RBC’s Dance Company were dancers from Kathryn Barnett School of Dance.  KBSD Executive Director, Kathryn Barnett, says the dance “Be Still” choreographed by Jessica Beurbe is about quieting your mind and having faith in yourself to heal.

"Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to sign all the forms and writing recommendation letter for Nicole.  I can't thank you enough." - Toni
